Hiking in Nepal

 

Kathmandu, is the tourists’ first destination in Nepal for most of the travelers. It is situated in a small mountain sheltered valley and offers: venerable old temples, included World Heritage Sites; houses of unique architecture; ancient cultures and traditions; and enchanting views of the encircling, mountains of the Himalayas. To allow you to explore the Kathmandu Valley and its wonderful flora, fauna we have tailored short-hiking

 

Champadevi Hike

 

 This hike starts with the approximately 1 hour drive to Pharping (south - west) of Kathmandu. Pharping (19 Km.) is the typical Newari town, surprisingly untouched by the swarm of tourists that visit near-by  Dakshinkali Before the 1st Shaha King, Prithvi Narayan Shaha, unified Nepal, this was a tiny city-state. We then walk for about 3 hours to the Champadevi Hill for a pack lunch. Magnificent views of Kathmandu Valley, Kirtipur and further are seen from here. After lunch we descend down to Kirtipur in about 2 hours. Kirtipur (6 Km. southwest) is an ancient hill top town. From here we drive back to Kathmandu. This hike will take about 5-6 hours.

 

 

Dhulikhel Hike

Dhulikhel (32 Km. northeast of Kathmandu) is popular as a Himalayan Viewing Point close to Newari settlement. We drive for about 35 minutes to Banepa and visit nearby Panauti. This is an ancient riverside town of temples and inns. There are number of religious sites that can be visited. Indreshwar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Shiva, Bhairab Temple and the whole tiny city itself,are quite remarkable . We have the pack lunch and, after the further exploration, drive back to Kathmandu. This hike will take about 6-7 hours.

Kakani Hike
We drive to Kakani (23 Km. north-west of Kathmandu) located at an elevation of 2073m. on a ridge arriving in about 1 hour. The tranquility of the surrounding gives you immense pleasure and the Himalayas Mountains, like Annapurna, Machhapuchhare, Ganesh Himal, Langtang can be viewed from here. Take an easy walk to Gujre, which will take about 3 hours. Have a pack lunch down to Balaju and 10 minutes drive will bring you back to Kathmandu. This hike will take about 5-6 hours.

 

 

Shivapuri Hike

30 minutes drive from Kathmandu will take you to Budhanilkantha (9Km. north). Here a 5 meter long a stone image of Vishnu lies serenely in a pond sleeping on a most unusual bed of the multi-headed snakes. Shivapuri is one of the highest hills around the Kathmandu Valley. Climb up to Shivapuri Hill through the forests for about 3 hours. Experience an excellent view of Kathmandu Valley, views of the Annapurna Range, Machhapuchhare, Ganesh Himal and Langtang. Enjoy your pack lunch at this resting spot. After lunch go down to Budhanilkantha through a different trail. Drive back to Kathmandu from Budhanilkantha. This hike will take about 6-7 hours.

Nagarkot Hike A

 

We drive to Nala (30Km. north-east of Kathmandu). Start your hiking from village. Take the graveled

road to Nagarkot. You shall pass through the pine forests, terraces and the typical Newari Villages. Stop for lunch at the Ghimire Gaon. From here you can see the Bhaktapur Village very near to you and the beautiful Kathmandu Valley in the far distance. Resume your hike. You will finally reach Nagarkot, which is our destination. Take in the splendid view of the Himalayas from here and then drive back to Kathmandu. This hike will take about 4 hours.
